1. In the event of a power outage, the emergency generator will automatically kick-in. It will provide enough power to operate one elevator, lighting for the stairwells, and every other light in the hallways. It will not provide power for the inside of the units.
2. If you are in the elevator that has no power, it will be dark, but there is help for you. It is located beneath the button panel. You can feel a small rectangular, vertical handle to pull open the door to voice box. Push a small round button at the bottom of the box and a voice on the other end of the line will assist you. The system will know your address and which elevator you are in and will send help.
3. To prepare for power emergencies follow the usual hurricane protocol and have:
3.(a) A supply of batteries for flashlights
3.(b) A battery-operated radio or TV for news
